ELLSWORTH, Maine — If drivers of Route 1A from Bangor to Ellsworth think they are inconvenienced now, they better get used to it. A long-overdue reconstruction project of 6.5 miles of the major road has begun this summer, but it won’t be completed until June 2011, according to Ernie Martin, project manager with the Maine Department of Transportation.

Jim's comment: We are offering an alternate route to avoid any inconvenience to our tourists. Take Route 3 from Augusta to Belfast and continue north from Belfast. It's quicker and prettier that way as well!
