During a Belfast Harbor cruise on the MV Patience, Dr. C. Sue McCullough, Director of the University of Maine Hutchinson Center noticed the clear maps the Maine Coast Welcome Center uses to direct guests to the Belfast waterfront. It's the only area map showing the Belfast downtown and the Route One lodging corridor.

Jim LeClair of the Maine Coast Welcome Center says, “We get lots of guests trying to find Belfast from Route One, so we developed our Concierge Maps to show our guests how to find local area businesses.”

Dr. McCullough asked if the map could be modified to include the location of the Hutchinson Center so the Concierge Maps may be used by the Hutchinson Center as a guide to the Belfast area for Places to Stay, Places to Eat, and Things to Do for Hutchinson Center guests.

The Hutchinson Center in Belfast hosts many seminars and conferences, drawing attendees from all over the world. For example the COSIT 2011 Conference on Spatial Information Theory has over 125 attendees from across the world coming to Belfast ! According to Dr. McCullough, the Hutchinson Center will host over 30,000 attendees for 2011. The Hutchinson Center and the Maine Coast Welcome Center have teamed up to benefit all these visitors to Belfast. Jim modified the map to show the location of the Hutchinson Center and has provided a web link so that the Hutchinson Center may provide customised Concierge Maps to their attendees or email them a web version anywhere in the world.
