Based on the latest information that we have received from the National Weather Center, Hurricane Earl will produce sustained winds in excess of 39 m.p.h. and a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for our area.
As a precautionary measure, we will close Blackwoods, Seawall, and Duck Harbor (Isle au Haut) campgrounds today (Friday, September 3) at 5:00 p.m., and all campers will be required to vacate their sites.
The following road closures will be in effect at 9:00 p.m. today: Park Loop Road from the Sand Beach Entrance Station to the paved entrance for Wildwood Stables. South end of Schooner Head Road (also known as Great Head Road). All park roads at Schoodic. The Islesford Museum (Little Cranberry Island) will be closed on Saturday, September 4.
All park closures will remain in effect until we determine that conditions are safe.
Please take every opportunity to make visitors aware of the dangers of getting too close to high surf.
